Thick Soup of Cabbage And Polenta

The combination of cabbage and polenta may sound strange, especially in the soup, but this recipe is the proof of how this combination can be fantastic:

Thick Soup of Cabbage And Polenta


  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 2 onions
  • 1 fresh red pepper
  • 80 g of corn meal
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper


Chop cabbage into strips and pepper into cubes and chop onion. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil in a pot and fry chopped onion until it’s soft. After 5-6 minutes add the tomato paste, cabbage strips, pepper cubes and pour 250 ml of water. Simmer for about 5 minutes at medium temperature, stirring occasionally. Then sprinkle the vegetables with corn meal, stir, pour the 750 ml of water, stir again and cook  for about 15 minutes stirring occasionally. In the end, add salt and pepper and serve.
